He’s glad none of his previous auditions made it, explaining that there is no way he would be ready during those times. Williams shared that a lot of preparation and last-minute adjustments had to be done during his run. He also reveals that his semifinal performance was hard as he was controlling two puppets at the same time.
LOS ANGELES — An Indianapolis ventriloquist came up just short of advancing to the finale of "America's Got Talent."
On Tuesday's live show, brought a second puppet into his act.
"I thought you were great. I loved it. I thought it was challenging for you to do this and to have the two different puppets was amazing," judge Sofia Vergara said.
Judge Simon Cowell told Williams while he liked the Indy native's audition, he "loved" his live performance Tuesday.
"Tonight, I thought you were better than your audition," Cowell said. "For me, I think this has been the best act by a mile tonight."
During Wednesday's results show, Williams was one of the top five vote-getters among the 11 acts but was then eliminated. Comedian Mike E Winfield and variety act Metaphysic advanced to the finale.
According to "AGT," Williams has been performing ventriloquism for 13 years, ever since his father passed down his own childhood ventriloquist dummy.
